The Stags Head Inn is a charming family-run pub, close to the A303 near Wincanton with its famous racecourse.
We’re situated in the heart of the Somerset countryside, yet not too far from Glastonbury or Castle Cary.

"every road leads somewhere"

Welcome

Paul, Dawn, Emily and the team would love to warmly welcome you to our unspoilt, traditional 18th century country pub at any time of the year. Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter. The Stags head Inn is open to EVERYONE.
If you’re walking in the area, passing through, or coming for a special night out, bring your Best Friend along too. We love dogs!
Our pretty south-facing garden, with soothing babbling brook, is the perfect spot for a romantic evening or a relaxing pint during those long and lazy summer days.
During the winter, we find people will travel long distances for the taste of a real home-cooked meal. Our open log fires crackle with life when those cold winter nights draw in.

Our Food

Our homemade food is known for locally sourced ingredients and is cooked right on the premises by our excellent chef Paul.
We have a daily specials board that Paul chooses and changes often.
The Stag’s Head Inn’s Sunday Lunches are an area legend.
We offer three roasts and a heart-warming selection of vegetables and delicious sweets.
No one will leave with room for more.
Paul’s specialities can be created for parties of any size.
From coaches to weddings, private or public, any tastes, any budget, and for any dietary restrictions.
It will be our pleasure to meet your requirements.

"Let us create some memorable experiences for you at the Stag's Head Inn"

Dawn Tapping (Your Host)

"Always excellent"

"Although rather off the 'beaten track, this pub/restaurant is well worth the effort involved in finding it. The restaurant has a great atmosphere, the staff are always polite, helpful and keen to assist but the greatest attraction is the outstanding food. An extensive menu with, I would assume, something to please everyone and the quality is simply superb."

“Absolutely FANTASTIC”

"We went for dinner with our parents and I must say this quaint pub/restaurant in a sleepy village was absolutely amazing.
The food was first class. The service was excellent and the supper menu was unbelievable in price - I would have paid twice the price asked and often have in not such wonderful surroundings!!"
